My first paranormal experience was when I was 8 or 9 years old. Spent a lot of summers at my grandparents house. When everyone turned in for the night all the strange experience would start. At first it was the sounds of footsteps coming up the stairs, or those same footsteps walking in the hallway. The doorknob on the front door would start to rattle as if someone or something was trying to get into the house. My second experience was also at my grandparents house,but I was 12 or 13 years old. I slept in the front room. Woke up early one morning and went to the kitchen for a glass of water. Well, to my surprise there was a figure standing by the kitchen table. What made me feel uneasy was the fact that this figure was without a head Please feel free to post your paranormal experience.

My first (of many) paranormal experiences was also at my grandparents house. I didn't understand until much later in life that I was "sensitive" to the supernatural.
I must have been 4 years old when it began or it was memorable enough to freak me out. I was staying with my grandparents during the late winter months. I remember waking sometime in the night and the house was cold as hell... you know how old people from the depression era were ultra conservative. The room I was sleeping in had a street light that shone into it, so a night-light was unnecessary. I looked around at the room I was in and it was covered in cobwebs. I remember distinctly blinking my eyes tightly and looking again to see everything was still streaked with strands of silky stuff. I did the cover over the head trick, rubbed my eyes and peeked out again to find it all still there. Strands all across the ceiling, in the corners, streaming down to the furniture. I retreated back under the covers.

I remember being scared, but even at that age, I had enough sense not to tell anyone about the experience.
I have had too many such experiences since then to attempt to put them here in this forum. Maybe someday, in one of my upcoming novels..., but some are probably too personal to share.
I realize this probably doesn't qualify as a "ghost" sighting, but I might consider sharing some of those later on.

When I was 18, I started my psych nurse training in a now long derelict building. It was a proper old fashioned Victorian Asylum and there were numerous ghosts of which I have seen or heard many. Went ghost hunting with a colleague in one of the old anexes a couple of months ago and it was great fun and very spooky. Hard to imagine I used to work there. At the turn of the last century, unmarried mothers were incarcerated there and their babies removed straight after birth. Wonderful treatments including 'flooding; Insulin therapy and Ect (without anaesthetic) were carried out and many people successfully commited suicide. Many haunted and sad spirits.

The house I grew up in was incredibly haunted. Slaves were hanged on the apple tree out back and it was also the site of a trolley crash. A tall dark man with sulfuric yellow eyes would sometimes appear behind you in mirrors. The attic was so unpleasant that although I lived in the house for twenty two years I never made it up there. On the third step leading up, there's a feeling of utter hopelessness and horror and a strange understanding that something inhuman is there. My mother was an ex-marine and she still refused to go up there to retrieve things stored in there when we moved. The people that bought the house from us have since built a massive fence and have cut down the apple tree. I We didn't find out until after we left that people in town had always called it the hell house and had suspected my family of devil worship because of the awful sensations some people that went in there experienced and the strange accidents that popped up.

I have seen spirits here and there all my life. My family never really believed me, mainly because they don't believe in that sort of stuff, but as i got got older, i became very curious and started studying about ghosts and things like that. I went to a psychic and he told me that i have a strong spirit and i was born with the job of helping the spirits find their way. Now, till this day, i don't know what the hell that means, but what i do know is, that there are random times when someof my things go missing and hours later they are "put back" to where i orginially had them and sometimes people bother me during the day. weird i know.. story of my life lol

A relatively new encounter that I thought would add to the discussion. One of many--
A cool front was coming, bringing the usual black thunderstorm, but this one was a light show. I got the sony cam out, which has night vision, and was recording some of the extravagant lightning. This was late in the evening and the batteries were about to go south, so i turned off "record" and looked through the viewfinder into the dark driveway. About twenty feet in front of me stood a heavy set man. He was wearing bib overalls, cap, tshirt and didn't look happy. He looked like a farmer from the late 1800's would have. I looked up from the cam, but there was no one there in the dark. The security lights came on and I was standing out under the car port alone. We live in the country where it was most likely farm land and was an Indian burial ground for the native Creek Indians. I keep kicking myself for turning off record for just that moment. I will always wonder if.........

well ive never seen a ghost but something paranormal happened to me today at 4:00 am so im sitting at my laptop and suddenly I hear a ticking noise going through the wall. moving around until it was behind me then I heard ringing like an alarm clock. and it stopped as fast as it began. I recorded the sounds on my phone and then transferred it to my computer and onto a sound editting program and I heard a slight moaning sound.

my mom told me about her expierience so ill post it here. So when my mom was little she didnt like any food except for ham. so one night she woke up and looked around the room and she saw a man sitting at a table he looked at my mom and handed her a sandwich with everything she didnt like. She turned her head and counted to 10 she looked again and he was still there then the man dissapeared.

I think I feel my nan with me sometimes when I'm upset or worried etc, I get proper freaked out about the paranormal, it's the only type of horror movie that freaks me
