Here is yet another cult classic I just now watched for the first time. This movie is trippy as fuck! It leads me to wonder what was real and what wasn't. Or perhaps he was just Fifty Shades of batshit crazy. Regardless, I hate that it took me so long to finally watch this.

It's one of a kind film, ain't it? You can't expect what you're going to see.

" It's been decades since I've seen it, which was only once, but I will venture to say, that after I read a critique of the film (and I don't know if they were quoting Cronenberg), I think not knowing what was real or not is the point, it's done on purpose. In the film, it hints that there's an extra 'wave' in the video stream that causes hallucinations, or something more supernatural than that. In the critique Cronenberg was wondering what all the new dark, trippy, horror, violence, trash, sexuality, etc in video rentals to mainstream society was going to do to the collective psyche of society... and he was suggesting a lot more than nothing.
