The Ring 2
 

Saw the trailer for it a little while ago, looks damn good. I think I remember hearing that its being directed by the guy who did the Japanese Ring 2, Hideo Nakata. Its gotten me a little curious, but I'm afraid it could turn into the whole "Grudge" fiasco, when Takashi Shimizu did an Ameican movie in a language he didn't even know. Any thoughts, how's this movie gonna turn out?

Hope it turns out better than "Ringu 2"...I found it very disappointing

I guarantee you it will get the same reaction as the 1st American one. All the self-proclaimed, modern day horror fans will say itz the scariest movie ever made, and it will get a decent review from REAL horror fans, but not a great one.

I liked the american remake of "Ringu"...not as good but one of the best remakes ever....."the Blob" and "Invasion of the Bodysnatchers"(1978) are two other great remakes...
..anyway i watched "Ringu 2" again and i think it was better this time..but the last 10 minutes still suck....

American Remake of Ringu was OK as remakes go, not a patch on Ringu IMO, but better than most remakes ...

How ever 4 Japanese Movies, A korean Remake and 1 US Remake so far, I say that's enough, this idea has been done to death, time to move on and do something new!

Oh good, someone else saw The Spiral besides me. Didn't like it that much (if you've read the book, they kinda mutilated it), But that scene with a naked Sadako poping out of the TV was fun.

Ring 2 is looking good, and I'm interested to see what Nakata will do with it. I actually like The Grudge quite a bit. So I'll be there.

Well thats a TV series ... but it does add to the fact that there has been enough done with this for the momment, at least IMO

TV Movie. And that version was a direct adaptation of the book, right down to the gender of the main character

No "The Spiral" is a movie, STE posted the made for TV version!

The Spiral was shot as Ringu 2, but at test screenings they were not happy with it, so Ringu 2 was shot and the Spiral was released under that title ...

So wether you count the TV version or not thats still alot of movies based on the same source material in a very short amount of time!

I've got the complete TV series on DVD (you can get it at www.asiancult.com), and it's VERY different from the book. There's a whole lotta major plot changes, including one about Ryuji being Sadako's son(!). There's also a lot of stuff about the Ring Virus that comes out The Spiral, and lots of characters that don't appear in Suzuki's book.

i know this sounds terrible....but i can't get into too may asian sagas...with sequels and such, cause i get confused easily....alot of asians, especially the women look alike to me...so i get mixed up sometimes by the cast members in a 90 minute movie, let alone in sequels where they're switchin' the actors on me...

The Ring 2 is gonna rule! I cant wait to see it. Who cares about Samara? Samara can suck a fart out of my asshole! Ring 2 is gonna be a class 1 flick. I only hope they dont throw my ass in jail wednesday! That would seriously put a crimp in my Ring 2 plans.:(

Everyone hates The Grudge without ever specifically saying what was wrong with it. Personally I enjoyed it. I think people say that like they say The Ring sucked to look trendy and deep that they prefer Japanese horror movies. Guys you just look pretentious. I am the son of Charles Manson so with a wave of my hand I can create life. My word is more than law...it is gospel.

My daughter, her boyfriend and my youngest son went to an advanced screening last night and all they had to say was "it stunk". Thats all I got out of them[ I guess they are not as articulate as their old man ]...."it stunk".

I'll wait for the DVD release.

I'm gonna say no. Especially seeing that my youngest son said "it stunk". I've been turning him on to a lot of the Asian horror movies and he likes them a lot.Gotta bring them up right ya know. :)
