I watched an interview with Carpenter and Rodriguez on that new network that has the Dusk till Dawn TV series. It was a pretty good interview.

I'll say:

The Thing

Christine
They Live
Escape from New York

Here's how I rank the ones I've seen that I like.
  1. Halloween
  2. The Thing
  3. Christine
  4. The Fog
  5. Prince of Darkness
  6. Cigarette Burns
  7. In the Mouth of Madness

I'm ashamed I still haven't seen They Live.

I used to love Big Trouble as a kid... Loved it. But it's been a long time, and I have a feeling it wouldn't have the same effect on me now.

Escape from New York, same. It's been a long time, but used to like it.

Vampires, Ghosts of Mars, Village of the Damned... completely didn't work for me. Had to turn Vampires off halfway through.

I'm part way through The Ward, and can't seem to get excited about finishing it, but I'm betting it's better than the above three.

Overall though, definitely like Carpenter, especially for Halloween and The Thing, two of my all time favorites.

My first post..

The Thing is all that matters..

All of JCz films were great but the timing of Thing was perfect..

No need to say anymore..

I agree with THE THING as a favorite, for me tied at #1 with THE FOG (1980). I also loved HALLOWEEN and liked Christine quite a bit.

The soundtrack and atmosphere to "The Fog" was impeccable. I'm not sure why they allow these to be remade, when the originals are perfect.

Anyway, I love John Carpenter's work.
