COCO (2017). Just back from visiting daughter/son-in-law and was less than impressed with this, despite their high recommendations. Maybe it's the PIXAR animation (never have liked it) and the retread of so many other films, but Ok for one viewing, if You must. **

That's been on my list for awhile. Maybe I'll skip it.

Say, did you like PIXAR's Monsters, Inc? I thought that was a great film. Funny creative heart warming, even looked good. I like the original Ice Age too.

Haven't seen either one...maybe I will take the plunge.

SUPER 8 (2011). Although there is a lot of re-treading executive Producer Speilberg's old movies in here, I really like this one. Decent FX and for the most part, the kids are really good in here. Also, Kudos to JJ Abrahms for really capturing the time period it's supposed to take place in, although I think remember hearing "My Sharona" and "Don't Bring Me Down" later in the summer, but am probably wrong.
Well worth seeing and although the Sci-Fi angle is pretty good, I wish more attention had been focused on the kids and THE CASE. ****

RED CHRISTMAS 2016

There's a couple of movies with this title out there but this is the one with Dee Wallace. A mother gathers her rather eclectic family members together for one last Christmas dinner before she sells the family home. A hideous part of her past comes back to join the gathering.

That’s all swell, but what’s your rating?

Better Watch Out, 2016. 6,5/10

If you drop the polished look, made it darker and gritty, drop the humor....and had the kid follow up on some of the nasty things he was saying, coulda been an underground film. Kept me interested til the end.
