Interested in a Best Horror Music Tourney?

If feels a little too soon for a Best Horror Film tourney, but how about a Best Horror Music Tourney as we slide into Halloween?

If enough folks want to do it, I'd see it going like everyone pick their fav 5 horror music pieces/songs, and we'd go right into our classic tourney format.

It wouldn't be soundtracks, it would be individual music tracks. Which would typically be the film theme, but I think we should include any horror song as well.

So which would you rather?

1. We could keep it strictly to music in horror film...

2. or we could open it up to any 'horror' music or song, that would include all of: the 'Carpenter's Halloween Theme', 'The Monster Mash' and 'Modest Mussorgsky - A Night on the Bare Mountain'.

What ya think?

I would probably go for strictly music from horror films. And it would be our personal favorites, not what we think would be the right ones ?

OK, a vote for horror film music only: Bloof

Well, voting for 'what's the best', as opposed to 'what's your favorite' is tricky business! lol

I don't think it makes any difference really. When peeps pick their 5 selections, there's no reason not to pick a favorite(s). Especially with music, ya know?... like how often would someone say, "This is my favorite horror movie theme, but I really think it's sucky music"? Not often. I mean, the fav is probably good in some way, or it wouldn't be a favorite, right?

But when voting, I think it's kinda the same as always... we're doing this for HDC, so we'd ask voters to pick the best -- and they can decide what that is for themselves. It's subjective and 'unpoliceable' so to speak. If a voter picks a fav, and the other voters thinks it sucks, that's the way it goes. Not a problem.

Only one response so far...

I'm with Bloof, horror film music only

Two for Horror film music: Bloof, Hammerfan

Anyone else interested in doing a HDC Best Horror Film Music All-time Tourney?

Any registered member may participate.

I'd want to get started ASAP, but not with only 3 participants. We'd want at least 6.

Great!

Would you rather have?

1. Strictly to music in horror film.

2. Or any 'horror' music or song, that would include everything from: the 'Carpenter's Halloween Theme', 'The Monster Mash' and 'Modest Mussorgsky - A Night on the Bare Mountain'.

I would think music in horror films would be easier. Although I am kind of curious what other stuff people might come up with. I think of Night on Bare Mountain as the Fantasia soundtrack. There was that Gunship music video with the horror cameos that I posted about a while ago too. Sadly it won't show up anymore unless you sign in or save it through another site. It wasn't that adult.

I would be ok with both if possible so you could get horror music, songs, videos. When I saw the topic my first thoughts went to some of the songs in Friday the 13th. But also that old Jacksons Torture video that freaked me out as a kid. I didn't even want to touch any kind of slime.

Three for music in Horror film only. Bloof, Hammer, Immortal

I actually had never heard Dark All Day before. Nice sax! Hadn't heard Torture before either. Not sure how I missed it. I don't recall hearing that on the radio, but I was a big fan of Jackson's State of Shock.

If we get more participants, although we might keep to music in Horror films, I don't think we have to be too strict on horror film classification... like I think the opening theme of Se7en is a classic horror theme, but IMDB will classify the film as Crime Drama, or Godzilla being Sci-fi Fantasy.

You know that's the sax guy from Lost Boys.

I probably saw Torture on MTV or VH1 back in the day. I don't think I ever flipped radio channels a lot. But they had a lot of odd music videos then. It was like videos all the time from what I remember. Then it started to change to popularity shows.
