I'm sorry, but this is not really a very good selection of slasher films

LOL! gut punch

I wouldn't say these were bad slasher films. What would be a better 4 film selection, Neilold?

Obviously, Halloween is missing... maybe cause they wanted a real competition. Also missing is Psycho and A Nightmare on Elm St.

And then they have listed Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Scream. After that, I think it's really a crap-shoot.

Having recently seen 13pt2 and Black Christmas, I think they're among the crap-shoot. No pun intended there.

A four-way poll of Halloween, Psycho, A Nightmare on Elm St and Texas Chainsaw Massacre would be the heavies.

Its not like this person's going to respond. They just came here to post their link and never come back.

I don't know about this one... they came back 5 days after posting, but no one replied until 20 days later.

They gave themselves the name GorHor and added an original avatar. Based on that they might go all Pet Cemetery up in here.

TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE tough to beat. Maybe not a super slasher but one of the creepiest yet.

Agreed. I would have voted TCSM.

And also wondered what are the boundaries for a "slasher film"? One strict impression would be it's only a film where a guy is running around stabbing people with a knife. But even then, how many people think of Psycho as a slasher film?

I think, like other horror genres, it was originally meant to be a derogatory term for every "Halloween ripoff", "any film that's basically nothing more than a series of bloody murder scenes".

Kill Me, Freddy Krueger! 10-10-2016 11:13 AM

I would have voted Scream.
