Horror Game Soundtracks

Post horror game soundtracks you like listening to.

I really like this theme from the final boss fight in Silent Hill 3.

There’s a bunch of theme songs in the SH franchise I really like, including the first movie. The one from the second game (I think it’s the second game) is my favorite. So much I learned to play it myself. It’s quite simple actually. Simple but catchy.

Same here! Silent Hill games had great music.

I also like this theme from Silent Hill 2.

Most of the soundtracks from games I like all rent from horror games. These are the to that I love the most. The first is the main theme to Metal Gear Solid from PlayStation one. It is beautiful. The second is from Final Fantasy 7, also on the PlayStation one. It is played during the main boss battle of the game, Sephiroth.

Big Silent Hill fan myself, also a big Akira Yamaoka/Mary elizabeth McGlynn fan ( seen them live twice ).

This one, Hole in the Sky, is from Origins and is one of my favorite vocal tracks from the series. So much so, that I learned to play it on multiple instruments and performed it live at cons with my old band.

Akira Yamaoka also did the soundtrack for Contra: Shattered Soldier, which is a departure in sound from SH, but great none the less. Here’s a couple tracks, but I’d recommend the entire OST.

Venus ( Contra:SS Theme )

Fortress

Survival of the Fittest

To keep with the heavy theme, this is my favorite track from Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2, and one of the best metal game tracks I’ve ever heard. I love using this one in projects or just listening to it while I work. Totally fits the theme of punching people and having their heads explode in a mess of gore and macho martial arts badassery!

The Executioner

The Souls/Bloodborne games are some of my all time favorites, and this includes some amazing and memorable scores. Here’s one from each game.

Maiden Astraea ( Demon’s Souls )

Knight Artorias ( Dark Souls )

Majula ( Dark Souls 2)

Iudyx Gundyr ( Dark Souls 3 )

The Night Unfurls ( Bloodborne )

This track from Castlevania:Lords of Shadow definitely sets the mood for a village beset by Lycanthropes.

This haunting theme hints at the underlying tragedy and sadness that is a consistent theme

If you guys like Silent Hill music I bet you would also like some of the themes from the digital horror game Lone Survivors. It sounds very much like stuff Akira Yamaoko would compose.

Here's a few tracks I liked best from that game.

The last one is my personal favorite.

I have a bunch of the Resident Evil Rest Room tracks saved and listen to them on occasion.

Also I have two versions of the Silent Hill movie soundtrack which was never released. I found a site that put the music together. I believe many tracks are from the games. I don't know, I still haven't played them yet. I'll play the first 2 or 3 as I heard those are the best.

The Castlevania music is almost always good. Even though Lament of Innocence isn't a very good game the music is. I'm playing the portable Castlevania Portrait of Ruin now and the music is good in that too.

The Succubus Bossfight theme from Lament of Innocence was really good.

I think I have the level music saved. The majority of those are really good. I remember being excited about getting the game and pretty disappointed at the end. I only listen to the music now.

But still many fans of Castlevania are hoping that Bloodstained is the next real Castlevania type game. It's been delayed again till next year.
