Animated experimental horror films?

Hello!

I've been searching for animated (2d) films, a bit more to the extreme side, but also psychological and experimental.
I understand my criterias is a bit confusing and I'm not completely sure my self what I'm looking for. But I feel that in the animated realm there should be some horrific gems when you don't have to consider actors, practical effects/cgi and things like that.

I've found some in the manga-genre, but this isn't really what I'm looking for either.

Have gotten interested in animation and have some projects on my own under construction, but I want inspiration, and I want to see some gruesome stuff animated, as reference as well. :)

Thanks, and take care!

I like Saladfingers on youtube. There was an animated film about Santa Claus in the distant future that was quite bloody and gruesome but fun. Think I can remember the name of it, lol?

Are you familiar with the works of Jimmy ScreamerClauz?

His films are fantastic!

Where The Dead Go To Die

When Black Birds Fly

I watch an episode of this now, I liked it!
I apparently watch episode 11 first, and now I started from the beginning. Nice to see how the animator has developed through the episodes.

I recently saw a few early Tim Burton animated shorts films. Most are 2d, you just have to scan down the list, like number 13

Also, I'm sure you've seen "REJECTED by DON HERTZFELDT"? If not, it's very creative 2d animation, more hilarious and gross than scary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7JyjZI3LUM

I liked the atmosphere in these ones. Great!
I felt it was a little bit annoying that the characters looked like barbie dolls from time to time, but overall great short films! I thought of the idea with those 3d backgrounds but with 2d characters instead. That might have been cool.
