Boris Karloff's Thriller

Do any of you remember the TV series Thriller which ran from 1960 to 1962 and was hosted by Boris Karloff who played in a few of the episodes?

Being an older woman, I do indeed remember this series.

It is my favorite TV horror series.

It was a long time before it was commercially released.

I wanted this series so bad!

It came on like 2 AM and was shown on the Sci Fi Channel which has commercial interruptions of it's commercials.

I set my alarm clock to get up for 1:55 AM and taped the shows cutting out the commercials.

I really wanted it bad.

But now it has been released and I have donated my old copies and am thoroughly enjoying my new set.

A series to take with you on a desert island.

A little rich for my blood, what makes it such a great series? Also, did you go back to bed after recording the episodes?

Martha 03-05-2016 09:35 AM

Yes I went back to sleep after I copied the episode.

It was a series ahead of it's time.

It started with basic thriller type stories but the ratings were not that good..

Then when the stories of the supernatural were enjected the ratings came up.

Most of the second year were supernatural stories.

The ratings were good but not enough to get it on for a third year.

If you ever find it on TV be sure to look for the episodes:

The Incredible Dr. Markesan

The Hungry Glass

The Premature Burial

The Grim Reaper

God Grant That She Lye Still

The Terror In Teakwood

Pigeons From Hell

DarK Legacy

The Weird Tailor

The Return Of Andrew Bentley

Dialogues With Death

Trio For Terror

The Prisoner In The Mirror

The Cheaters

I'm sure that you will like these.

Was this also known as "The Veil"?

Martha 03-05-2016 12:37 PM

No. The Veil was a seperate series.

It ran for 10 episodes.

It too was hosted by Karloff.

All 10 episodes are available on DVD.
