It was a slow day and I have an unlimited card at the local Odeon.
No surprises here. The CGI has that bizarre shimmer/sheen that most films seem to carry these days, the beast in particular looks uncanny and moves too fast for his size. It adds very little new and what it does add is plagued with painful exposition. None of the new songs are remotely hummable and pretty much all of the performances are weak.
Josh Gad is enjoyable enough as the (controversially) gay LeFou, with glimmers of depth added to his character, including a conscience.
