Kool Keith: First Come, First Served

The album cover sums the feel of the album pretty good: Weird.

On First Come, First Served Kool Keith plays the part of a serial killer/rapper named Dr. Dooom. His first job is killing off Keith's former alias Dr. Octagon. This album is pretty dark and twisted. The instrumentals are dark and menacing. Keith mixes black humor and graphic horror together and produces somethign that is eerie, psychedelic and unlike anything you've ever heard. On this album he mixes tales of Dr. Dooom's everyday exploits on songs such as "Neighbors Next Door" and "Housing Authority" with songs such as "Bitch Gets No Love" and "Bald Headed Girl" that parody and diss the life of gold-digging ghetto black women.

Though the album has a lot of horrific elements to it, it can't be tied down into a specific concept as Keith traverses between different moods, from the dark and menacing to the spaced out and weird. What the album is is entertaining, however. Cohort Motion Man stops in and drops abstract verses and when he isn't killing and chewing up his victims, Dooom's roommate Jacky Jasper lends a hand in the lyrical madness.

Some twisted lines include: "I threw a rat with mayonaise at your headlights"

"Hey, kid, need 20 cents, havin' a cookout with my neighbors...how you like the 'meat' flavor? mmmmm"

"While y'all talk gangster I push body parts in shopping carts"

"leave my diapers moist in the back of your rolls royce"

"Police can't hear you with a dead body tied near you"

"Drag dead elephants in department stores while people shop"
