recommend a good vampire movie

Hello folks, I would like to have some of your recommendations about a good vampire movie. But I do have some criteria that might limit the list. I am looking for a movie that sticks to the traditional vampire legend, crucifixes, garlic stakes etc. I liked Bram Stoker's Dracula except when we see Dracula walking around during the day, (with shades!!) and the voice over telling us something to the effect of "that contrary to popular belief vampires can survive day light but in a weakened state". Liked the movie but it was a let down to see that scene. I want Vampires to squirm with even the mention of daylight :D I know beggars can't be choosers so I look forward to all your recommendations.

Hammer Dracula.

I think it's actually clever that they can survive daylight to an extent. I think it makes it more realistic.

Hrm..have you tried the original dracula starring bela legosia [i think thats how you spell it].Also Blacula is good..if you are looking for hardcore vampire movies without the damn matrix crap where some blonde bimbo is the heroine of the dayor slasher type action ..may I reccomend you take a look at the classics.Em talking honest to goodness horror at its best here.

wierd I wrote a bit reply to this and it never posted..here goes again..

The Spanish Dracula (just because u might not have seen it - as good as the Lugosi version but in different ways)

The (already mentioned) Horror of Dracula - add to thie Taste the Blood of dracula (my 2 fave Hammer Vamp films)

Vampyres (Jose Larez Guilty pleasure of mine)

VAmpire in Venice/Nosferatu (2 great Klaus Kinsi blood suckers)

Nosferatu/Vampyr (ol' school)

Dracula (with Louis Jordan - the closest adaption imo)

Open your mind to different interpretations of vampire lore and you'll have more fun with you viewing experiences.

SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE fitys your criteria and is a great, fun film

ditto...and add THE HUNGER to the list. Sexiest Vampire flick ever (but they do walk around during the day, they just avoid the light and are generally quite weak)
