It was low budget, wow did not know.. I know what you mean, modern horror's took a turn for the worse but I think now with The Possession and Sinister, they appear to be getting better..

.Speaking of fairly high budget horror ,I really enjoyed Livid too.Well creepy.I enjoy French horror, they really go for the jugular(literally) and while it wasnt as good as Interior it had some really chilling scenes. If you havent seen it,worth a look.

The nurse Scene from Exorcist III as shes walking around in the corridor and the guy in a sheet with sheers turns up is quite good. Also the "get out of my chair" scene in The Eye (original virsion) always makes people jump.

those are great ones. I'll also add the obvious:

The ending of The Beyond
The Ending Of Hellraiser 2: Hellbound.
The head drilling scene in City Of The Living Dead
The Splinter in the eye in Zombie Flesh Eaters.
The revealing of Mater Tenebrarum in Inferno

  1. The tunnel scene in 28 Days Later.
  2. The camcorder night vision reveal of one of the creatures in The Descent.
  3. The Nightmare sequence in Serpent and the Rainbow where Pullman's character is in the coffin filling with blood.
  4. The library ghost scene in Ghostbusters.
  5. The murder scene of Mrs. Gittelson in The House by the Cemetery.
