I liked Absentia, as a low budget indie flick it did quite good with atmosphere & character development. But in case of OCULUS...I thought it could have been better or more interesting if they avoided or excluded those "ghostly figures with glass eyes" and focused more on psychological horror segment of the story. The story wasn't bad, liked the idea of a mirror with diabolical power to manipulate people around it & play tricks on them to kill or destroy each other but those "ghostly figures with glass eyes" looked kinda cheap & lame. I guess there are some parts where they might have needed to show some 'corporeal ghosts', in that case the effects or looks of the ghosts needed to be much better & creepier.

Interesting twist on the timeless, classic fairy fable. Jolie, with her high-set and razor-sharp cheekbones, is perfectly cast. Rest of the actors rally well around her but Sharlto Copley feels out of place. Well-done effects add to the goodness.

If you are an ardent fan of Sleeping Beauty and the pure evil of Maleficent, best stay away. This is a tale of the other side of evil - an anti-heroine with a heart, who breaks everything, and mends it all back.

Yes, even THE kiss comes from her.

I'm not a huge fan of Angelina Jolie, but I admit, this movie intrigues me. I'll more than likely give it a watch.

I guess it was alright. I saw it over the summer with my mom, and I didn't totally hate it.

Yeah, in the ads I thought that the ghosts looked lame but it worked for me when I finally saw it (could be that it put me on edge and ANYthing would have scared me at that point, but still...)

I hadn't put it together that Flanagan, the director had also done Abenstia. I thought that Absentia was a damn good and creepy low-budget flick. I was honestly impressed with that one.

Tom Cruise's turn to live through Groundhog Day through an alien invasion. Cruise haters would have a ball watching him die umpteen times (and then some, and some more), but thankfully the film doesn't try to take itself too seriously. It's actually much better than Oblivion (Cruise's last sci-fi/action effort), and is helped immensely by a pacy script and excellent supporting actors, notably Bill Paxton who's perfectly cast in his role. The tongue-in-cheek humor and the largely-subdued Cruise do make for some good viewing.

The cinematography is excellent and the effects are superb. It will remind you of one of those 8-bit ultra-hard video games which you played back in the early 90s, where you died umpteen times and started back from the beginning over and over again.

BTW, a gripe I had was with the alien drone design, which was simply too similar to the Sentinels from The Matrix. But don't let that deter you too much - just watch the film and use two hours of your life for a good dose of fun and enjoyment.

I loved Edge of Tomorrow! I saw it on my birthday, and I'm gonna hopefully buy it on blu-ray when it comes out.
