Blood: The Last Vampire (2009)
>>: C- Parasomnia (2008) Laura Baxter is a young woman, literally a "sleeping beauty," who suffers from a medical condition called "parasomnia." A childhood accident victim, she is actually sleeping her life away, awakening briefly on rare occasions. Art student Danny Sloan falls in love with her, unaware that her hospital neighbor, a terrifying mass murderer and mesmerist named Byron Volpe has other, more sinister plans. Sloan helps Laura escape from her hospital prison only to discover that Volpe is about to enter her dreams. An unusual and interesting horror-thriller from director William Malone. Kinda look like a Masters of Horror film and little flawed but overall a pretty fun entertainer with a nice weirdly surreal plot and a decent cast which includes Jeffery Combs as Detective Garrett in a supporting role. >>: B-

True Romance Still a great flick although a bit uneven at times. Brought back some memories anyway. A couple of scenes would have to go down in a list of all time favorites for me. |

In Cold Blood – The 1962 version, Robert Blake’s debut feature. Not a bad movie, but fairly slow and certainly dedicated to recreating everything about the crime and its aftermath. Not the best presentation of this story I’ve encountered.
The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford – Another somewhat slow one, but Brad Pitt’s Jesse James is pleasingly nuts and Casey Affleck’s Robert Ford is terrific. An interesting presentation of a good story. Sam |
