I noticed too, looked like strawberry syrup or something.

Has anyone played the Saw video games, too? I played only the first one and it's pretty cool despite some frustrating puzzles. Never played the sequel.

What is the first game like? Is it just puzzle solving or is there more actual gameplay than that?

It's a little bit of both. You solve puzzles along the way as you navigate through the traps and the environment. The way it ties into the films and fills in some gaps is very interesting.

Does it tie into the other movies-thought it was only based on Saw 1?

The first game ties mostly into the first two movies although aspects of the others also make it in.

The first Saw film was a brilliant masterpiece (even if it borrowed a number of things from the Abominable Dr. Phibes). Virtually everything was superb in the first film, story, concept, acting, atmosphere, character development. I would say one of the best films of the 00s. The second was pretty good, but not exceptional. Something had been lost from the first to the second. After that it became more of the same and the kills became more and more brutal. I am not a big fan of the torture sub-genre and tolerated it in the first film because on-screen violence was actually not that bad, but after that the series became increasingly more violent (starting with the second film). So, the first film brilliant yes, even high on my greatest horror movies list, the series as a whole I would have to say no.

On the game topic, actually I played the games before I seen the movie. I was doing some research on games for Christmas and I came across the original Saw game. It looked like it would be an entertaining game, so I got it for Christmas. I played the game and nearly beat the game (and was impressed by the whole game concept of Saw). So, I decided to lift my personal ban on the series and watch the original. I used my free rental space on VUDU and watched it. I was blown away, one of the best films in the mosern era, very original. I eventually saw the second film, but after that it was becoming less appealing, as I metioned. So, yes I have played the game and it was very impressive, I also bought the secind game and it was really good too.
