Suspiria (2018)

8/10

A treat for the senses.

Good Time (2017)

8/10

Solid movie with a great score and good performances.

Double Date (2017)

6.5/10

Entertaining if predictable, and ultimately it didn't go anywhere interesting.

The Sisters Brothers (2018)

8/10

A solid movie.

Prospect (2018)

7.5/10

Loved the aesthetic and the feel of this movie, with some good world building, even if the story was a little short and lackluster.

BACKWOODS 2014

A couple get lost while hiking and are stalked by a big black bear. Different kind of horror but horrible nonetheless. The boyfriend got overconfident in his backpacking abilities and it was his downfall.

It was not too bad.

Brilliant in its ambiguity, as well as frustrating for it. There's a tonne to be dissected here, and it's a movie that lingers on the thoughts for days after, but I'm unsure if there are any solid answers.
Not to mention a great performance by Steven Yeun.

I thought Ellie and Church were fabulous! Everything and everyone else was just mediocre.

Us was very interesting and intriguing. Jordan Peele certainly knows his stuff: how to build up tension, character development, (subtle) social commentary,... The only downside would be the "tethered voice", which to me was annoying rather than scary. But all in all, that is nitpicking.

STILLWATER 2018

Six friends reunite for a camping trip but after their first night of heavy drinking and drugs, they wake up to find one of them was murdered.

A bit slow but good with a nice ending.

CAPTAIN RON (1992). Have heard all sorts of scathing things about this, but really not that bad, although pretty predictible. Kurt Russell is good in here (as per usual) and most of the laughs came from his eccentric behavior. Mary Kay Place is quite appealing in here, too much so to be married to Martin Short's incredibly annoying character. For me, his first time off the boat would also be the last. **1/2

Probably trying to be a cross of National Lampoons Vacation and Overboard, right?

DARKEST DAY 2015

A young man washes ashore with no memory of what has happened to him. He eventually hooks up with a group that has so far avoided a Zombie virus. He has unknowingly brought trouble with him.

Not a huge budget I'd say but still pretty good.
