Trilogy of Terror (1975) - Karen Black stars in three short films, each comes with a twist. Definitely worth watching, preferably in the dark!

I like the style... very 70's TV-movie. i thought the first two stories were fairly run of the mill... in a horror TV anthology way (like HBO the Hitchiker or Tales of the Crypt series). The real strike is the third story "Amelia", a true horror classic. I think the first two stories might add to setting up the mood for the third (although the stories are not related) but "Amelia" still stands alone well.

The Horror of Flashdance (1983)
6/10

The characters are rather lifeless, shallow, dull, caricatures, and not played very well, if it were even possible (to play them well). The plot is an 18-year-old welder and parttime exotic dancer who pines to get into the Pittsburgh Conservatory of Dance and Repertory. She apparently has no family either.

The adorable Jennifer Beals plays the lead, where she always wears a warm smile, and she can certainly dance.

The kick of Flashdance are the music and dance performances, most of which are done quite well. As music videos they're nifty. There's some fine songs in the film, and on the soundtrack, including Maniac (a personal fav) and What A Feeling. Many of the other songs are performed with plenty of lively gusto, vocals and instrumentation, fairly innovative in many respects including "Manhunt", "He's a Dream" and "Romeo"; with "Imagination" performed by Laura Brannigan probably being the most successful musically.

The soundtrack sold very well, more than 20 million copies worldwide. And despite deservedly poor reviews, the film did well at the boxoffice.

CURSE 2 : THE BITE 1989

A carefree couple take a shortcut through the desert where the man is bitten by a snake. No ordinary snake and no ordinary snakebite. Good 80's schlock.

BLOOD BEACH 1981

People start mysteriously disappearing at a popular beach site.

Slow-paced but not without its charms. Enjoyed it.
