Lead Singers
Don't know if this thread has been done yet. But, here goes.
Who is your favorite lead singer from a band or group, or just your favorite singer? Mine is Layne Staley (RIP) From Alice in Chains He had a great voice and really knew how to sing.

I snickered when kurt cobain offed himself, but was truly saddened by lane staley's death. No offence to cobain, i just never thought he was as spectacular as others did, and i had a hhard time stomaching a guy who would leave a daughter behind, especially with courtney love as a mother....
Eddie Veder was really good on Ten. After than, i think Pearl Jam sucks in general. Jim Morrison ruled. As did Marvin Gaye, and Nat King Cole. Louis Armstrong was a god. My wife had "What a wonderful world" played for my dad at our wedding.

I also thought Bradley (Also RIP), the lead singer of Sublime was totally awesome. It's a shame we are losing all the good singers that could really do something with music.
The most senseless act of death brought upon a legendary and great singer was John Lennon. All he did was sing about peace and love and some stupid ass idiot had to take away what the world needed at the time and that was John Lennons words and songs. Pointless death. But he left behind much great music.

I never liked john lennon. i thought he was a self-absorbed, artsy fartsy asshole whop thought more of himslef than he deserved.
He certainly didnt deserve to die, though, especially so badly.

i have to say though - that although i was raised on rock and will always love rock .. and respect the skill that screaming does take, etc ..
it doesnt hold a candle to sinatra, nat king cole, armstrong, dean martin, and the king : burt bacharach. |
