Unhappy Help me with a title please!

HI all,

When I was 6 years old, I stayed up late one night and happened to watch half of a horror movie.

The details are patchy, but I remember an american family were trapped in their home, there were sheets of iron/metal covering all the external windows and doors, and nobody was able to break through. The house kept getting warmer and warmer ..... I remember the father climbing up the chimney at one stage.

This film gave me recurring nightmares all through my childhood, and I would LOVE to get the title of the movie and watch it again.

Does anyone have any idea what this film was called???

Please help!

Was there some weird oozing liquid slowly flowing out of the fireplace, and at the end, they discover that they're the "pets" of a giant alien girl, like in that Twilight Zone episode? And the stuff coming out of the fireplace is the girl's popsicle, which has been slowly melting over the course of the film?

Ah, got it for ya:

"Child's Play" was a made-for-TV movie, 1985.

It was part of the "Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense" series.

Yes they do.

They totally do.

The problem is not that films like this exist--the problem is that films like this exist. Giant popsicles melting in dollhouse fireplaces! The nerve of those Hammer people, traumatizing viewers like that.
