Missions-French Scifi Series Returning for Season 3

Most have never heard of this show. I only did because Shudder started streaming the series about a year after season 2 aired in France. Recent news pertaining to the final season can be found here: https://screenrant.com/missions-seas...se-date-story/

The show involves space exploration and investigating mankind's origins way better than Ridley Scott's Prometheus ever did. It involves a trip to Mars investigating humanity's origins and the notion of a lost paradise and what's behind the veil of space/time.

The show's History:
In 2017, Season 1 debuted in France on OCS on OCS City then in 2019 on OCS Max. It became known in the U.S. through the Shudder streaming service owned by AMC.

In france, OCS ("Orange Cinéma Séries") is a group of French pay television networks dedicated to movies and series owned and operated by Orange S.A.. These channels originally launched on November 13, 2008 as part of the company's new direct-to-home satellite service and was exclusive to Orange TV but is now offered by other TV providers too. It is sort of like the equivalent of HBO or Showtime in the U.S. (for example HBO is now a package of different channels along with a streaming service that get for free or can be added on separately without TV subscription; OCS is set up in a similar way).

In the U.S. the only place to really watch was on Shudder streaming until they removed it but should be back on once the final season airs. Amazon Prime allowed to stream the series later on too or purchase the discs I believe as well...


Synopsis:

In the near future, the first manned space mission to Mars, Ulysses 1, is a European mission funded by the European Space Agency (ESA) and William Meyer, a billionaire Swiss philanthropist. The crew is made up of the best astronauts and European scientists, including French, Italians and Germans. Jeanne Renoir, the crew psychologist, monitors the mental health of the crew. After ten months travelling through space, a few hours from starting the landing procedure, the astronauts learn from William Meyer that they will not be the first astronauts to land on Mars. They were overtaken by a US mission with a faster vessel funded by NASA and a multi-national computer company (Zillion owned by Ivan Goldstein). The only sign of life from the American mission is an alarming video and the European mission decides to investigate. On Mars the European astronauts do not find the Americans but a Russian, Vladmir Komarov, who died aboard the Soyuz 1 spacecraft in 1967.

Inspiration:

The director Julien Lacombe told the Swiss newspaper 20 Minutes that he was inspired by his love for science fiction, particularly Isaac Asimov's writing, but also for genre cinema including 2001: A Space Odyssey, Interstellar and Alien. He was also influenced by the Lost TV series: "We tried to reproduce the same fascination for this series, being careful not to open too many doors to answer every question"
