Borderlands 3 -- too many gun drops. You get like 4 gold gun drops every mission. Too much stuff, it's not special and too much work sorting through all of it. I'm still playing some BD2, as friends prefer it to BD3.

Civ 5 -- I shouldn't have started on the regular difficulty setting. It's too easy and no challenge. I have all the Wonders and will have all I'm eligible for. I could easily wipeout the other civs, but I'm trying to learn the game still. Probably will go on to the end, likely cultural victory, unless I get too bored and go military. It's too bad Civ doesn't hire a guy who can make the military AI good.

I’d like to see Civ being reinvented, because every new edition is just the first game with minor changes. Didn’t even bother finishing 5.

What was the Civ 5 game you didn't finish? map size, difficulty

I'm sticking to small maps, as I learned my lesson trying to play in a big world one time... take ya a year to finish.

Civ 5 seems to really hit on the Culture and Specialist aspect a lot more. It makes cities better able to defend themselves, but that doesn't change the game that much regarding the AI. In past Civs, if you invaded an AI, all the units would run to a city, instead of tying to out maneuver you, or make any real attempt at beating you in your territory.

In my one Civ 5 war, a Civ attacked me. I wasn't impressed by the strategy. The AI didn't go for the Iron resources, so I'm assuming the AI hasn't gotten at all more strategic. When I invaded their territory, they basically just ran into their cities.

Problem with Civ is the AI military ability is much worse than it should be. I've seen some decent world-war AI in other games, like TripleA. Since the Civ AI is so bad, the increase in difficulty just gives the AI civs a ton more (typically) Science, Gold and Production, so you'll always be way behind, never get a Wonder, and it forces you to try to win militarily. The only way to dabble in the other Victory tactics is to play another human(s). I've never tried playing another or group in Civ, seems like it would take a million years.

Literally about to turn on "Yakuza: Kiwami", which aside from #0 that I just played through, will be my only foray into the "original" series whatsoever.
0 was fun.
We'll see about this.

I must say I'm not an avid player. Scares are always subjective. The game itself is quite simplistic and there are few puzzles to solve during the playthrough. Some are slightly complex and it can get monotonous after a while... Graphics is average, I guess. Some characters are quite creepy, while some are just plain. If there's one thing to say about Home Sweet Home, it's that there's a pretty good attention to atmosphere. It's dark and haunting. I liked this game at the beginning, it gave me the creeps... but as the game went on, it became a little bit bland.

The Last of Us 2 PS4

Absolutely beautiful to look at and the The first hour was a perfect blend of gameplay and movie scenes. Then the open world part begins and the game takes a nosedive in entertainment and diversity. Still beautiful, but all the “side missions” are just you getting more scrap for upgrades that doesn’t make too much of a difference, instead of you finding more useful items.

And I’m sure all fans of the first game agrees that the developers made one HUGE mistake. 😡

Rainbow Six Siege:
I tried playing some with my nephew... him showing me how to play, and then watching each other take a turn playing with online players. Cool game. Five-vs-five hostage rescue, bomb defuse, type of games (like Counter-strike and hostage/bomb defuse in Call of Duty games).

The newer features of this game is destructible walls and floors, adding a more realistic aspect. Also has a lot more tech features, like video cameras, seeing through walls. One item analyses thermal footsteps and then displays where that enemy is. Also, a character can wound an enemy, "interrogate" him, and then displays where all the enemy team members are.

A PC gamer like me will take a long time to get decent at it, that is trying to aim with the thumb joystick (analog stick) (rather than keyboard/mouse)… not to mention using a controller for everything else as well, shooting, moving etc. I've played a lot of this mode type in Call of Duty games.

Whereas I was fairly useless to my team (and one guy entered a vote to kick me after my first round), I was able to share some strategy advice to my nephew, particularly when to use a cooked or stun/flash bang grenade.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night:
Just started playing this modern-day scroller, in the Castlevania mode. Again, getting used to using a controller with this.

It's ok so far. I really enjoyed the old Duke Nukem side scrollers 30 years ago, and enjoyed playing Castlevania on Nintendo 20 years ago. But where I might replay a Duke emulator (or Zelda/Nintendo), after playing Castlevania once, I'm not interested in replaying it.

After a few death's fighting the first level's boat boss, I looked up how to beat it on youtube. I'd normally want to figure it out myself, but I wasn't so interested in this.
