Mesmerize: The new System of a Down CD

Mesmerize is fucking AWESOME! Easily one of the freshest, most original, and thuroughly rocking CDs I've heard since.... Since.... Well, since Toxicity. (And before that it probably goes all the way back to Nirvana's Nevermind.)

If you are not into SoaD or are unfamiliar with them, be warned, this may take a little getting used to. It is very heavy, but also blends in some nice melody. However, if you like what you've heard on the radio or any of there other CDs, then this is a must own! The only thing I've been able to think about since picking this CD up is how kickass it will be to see it performed live.

It's nice to know that there is at least one band out there enjoying mainstream success by doing their own sound.

Dude! This CD is loaded with good songs! BYOB is good, but compared to the rest of the album, it's nothing. Revenga, Old School Hollywood, Violent Pornography and Radio/Video are 4 of the coolest songs I've heard in the last decade!

Well Toxicity is really hard to beat, but it's right there, just slightly different. The lead guitarist does a bit more vocals than in the past. It's better than their 1st one and Steal This Album, but Toxicity is like a work of art... And so is Mesmerize. It's just hard to say which is better, ya know? The new one is a bit more progressive (They do some pretty unique things with the guitars, vocals, and other things, but it's still cool and very fucking heavy!

I just looked on their website and it looks like they have announced a North American tour in late summer/early fall so I will definately be checking them out when they get to Minneapolis!

It would be in your best interest to go buy this CD tomorrow. Scrounge under the couch cushions, pawn something if you must, hell, sell a kidney if that's what it takes! Just get it! You won't be disappointed!

pfffff. I think this was the worst of the four system albums.

from best to worst:

1. Self Titled
2. Steal This Album
3. Toxicity
4. Mezmerize

I think they really screwed up on this one, however the song Oldschool Hollywood is reallly good.
