Too Old to Die Young ~ Nicolas Winding Refn New Amazon Series

Quote:
Director Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive and Bronson) is bringing his hyper-violent vision to the small screen for “Too Old To Die Young,“ a 10-episode series for Amazon. Along with directing every episode, he also co-wrote the series alongside comic book legend Ed Brubaker.

The series will explore the criminal underworld of Los Angeles, including crooked cops, drug dealers and according to the official log line, a samurai? I’m assuming that’s metaphorical but when it comes to Refn, who the fuck knows.

The cast for the series includes William Baldwin, Miles Teller, John Hawkes, Jena Malone, Celestino Cornielle, Nell Tiger Free, Callie Hernandez, Kegn Matungulu and James Urbaniak.

“Too Old To Die Young” Is set to arrive on Amazon in 2019.

This is on Prime.

My friend started watching it.

This is Refn off the chain. It's good so far. There's plenty of neon-lit rooms and his signature style, but the pacing is hell.

Eps are 90 minutes long and they are slow as fuck. Characters literally stand around and deliver lines with the longest of pauses. Not sure why Refn has chosen to do this but it is challenging. His trademark violence is here but so is an unsettling dose of misogyny.

This is strictly for Refn diehards.
I'll give it a watch.
