Unfriended?

(PS - Don't waste your time with The Sacrament. Such a promising start, but gets real dumb as it goes along.)

Once.

Just for a differing opinion, I loved The Sacrament.

0, actually. Should fix that.

The Departed?

This might not be the place for discussion, but what did you like about The Sacrament Repo'd? Spoilers ahead...

I was on board with it at first, it's definitely a competently made film. But the more blatant they got with the Jim Jones / Jonestown shit it just felt lazy and exploitative. There's definitely a way to make an effective horror flick about real events, but for the big twist to be "surprise! This tragedy really happened, we just added Vice reporters and pretended it was a fictional story!" is not the way to go about it.

I generally enjoy Ti West's other work, but this really rubbed me the wrong way. To each their own though, curious to hear your thoughts.

Oh yeah, ya gotta see Ichi!

I've yet to see The Departed and I need to fix THAT.

SPOILERS BELOW .................................

Very interesting to read your take on the film and see where our opinions split.
We both agree that, typical of Ti West, it's well made. I really enjoy his work. We both agree that the movie starts out nicely and kept us involved. Where our thoughts divide definitely are with the ending. I was expecting to be let down and watch as the Vice crew saved the day and prevented the Horror's that took place. For me, the surprise was that the true events DID take place at the end of The Sacrament and there was nothing that Vice or any one else could do to stop it. Where you felt the ending was lazy I felt like it was challenging and very emotionally stirring. As you say, to each his own. I enjoyed reading your thoughts on a movie I really like quite a bit.

I saw it twice. I liked it much much better the first time. The second time was so boring, and I realised how bad soap opera-ish it was. Felt really pointless to me, and I really had trouble relating to the characters.

I think the first time I saw it was on TV with family, with merciful commercial breaks, and thought it was interesting in parts... but I surely must have been enjoying my company more than the film. Also, I think Interview doesn't have much re-watch value.

Kongo (1932)?
