I don't know how I feel about this. Scream 3 pretty much summed everything up perfectly, there's no need to keep going. (Not like that matters in cinema anyway, but it's still true). I'd honestly rather see them remake the original trilogy with all out horror instead of goofy, spoof horror, just to see how it would work.

i think a remake will be a bad idea (and not because I'm against most remakes lol)
i got a feeling that Sidney will die in this one and poss either Dewey or Gale. hope they dont go down the road of the Freddy films.... looking forward to it though :)

I enjoyed the first when i was in 6th grade but i haven't seen it since. I really didn't like the second and the 3rd i didn't for either. I'm sure i'll watch 4 though. Let's hope neve campbell doesn't look like she needs to cry in every scene though, that always annoyed me.

Scream 4
I couldn't find any other threads on this, so I created one.
Production to start in April/May 2010. Supposed to be a new trilogy 4,5, and 6. I'm interested to see how these turn out. Any thoughts? |

The NY Post caught up with Scream IV writer Kevin Williamson to ask specifically about the fate of Sidney Prescott (played in the previous three films by Neve Campbell) in the forthcoming sequel from Dimension Films. For those of you keeping track, Campbell had originally passed on the project and caused major turmoil for Williamson, who admitted on Twitter that he had big plans for her. Eventually Campbell came around, and now the fate of her character is in focus.
"The thing about 'Scream 4' is that there are a lot of twists and turns, so I can't promise anything," he told PopWrap about Sidney's role in the fourth film now that Neve will return. "There are a lot of moving pieces, so we'll see -- but if you're a 'Scream' fan, I think you're really going to like it." The most interesting revelation is that Williamson has tapped into all sorts of horror subgenres for the forthcoming SCREAM IV. "I've [included] manga comics, Asian ghost girl movies, there's some PG-13 horror movies in there, vampire movies, M. Night Shyamalan movies and torture porn movies, even though they've come and gone," he tells the site while also addressing the comedy in the film. ""You have to be careful because 'Scary Movie' spoofed these films, so one of the things I'm excited about with 'Scream 4' is that, while we do lampoon and send up the genre, [we] make it incredibly scary. That's first and foremost." SCREAM IV was a hot commodity at the AFM this past week. The new film sees the return of cast members Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, along with a group of new stars, who can hopefully stay alive long enough to figure out the new rules to this one-of-a-kind horror franchise.

Black Book Mag recently interviewed Neve Campbell, who plays Sidney Prescott in the Scream trilogy. She confirms early reports of a potential April 2010 start date, and that Wes Craven is returning to direct (our sources say it's a closed deal).
"I’m pretty sure at this stage that Wes [Craven] is back on board to direct and Kevin [Willamson] is definitely writing it...so it is going to be great." Campbell will be joining David Arquette and Courteney Cox, along with a group of new stars, who can hopefully stay alive long enough to figure out the new rules to this one-of-a-kind horror franchise.

With Wes Craven, Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette all scheduled to return, writer Kevin Williamson is contracted not only for Scream 4, but also for Scream 5.
In an interview with IESB, the creator of the hit TV series The Vampire Diaries talked at length about returning to the franchise that help to reinvigorated the horror genre. "What I have always liked about this movie versus the other horror films is that I feel like there are characters," says Williamson. "In other horror movies, you remember Michael Myers and you remember Jason. In our film, I think you remember Sydney Prescott because Sydney Prescott's the victim and she has lasted for all three of these movies. The fun of the film is that it's Sydney Prescott. That's the difference and you care about her. I want to write a story where you actually care about our characters and it's a plot that you watch them walk through. It's not all about the next kill. It's not all about slice and dice. I was watching Saw VI on Pay Per View the other night and I was like, 'This is really just going from one kill to the next, to the next.' It's fun, but I want to tell a story." And when asked if he might consider killing off Sydney Prescott in the first ten minutes of the film, Williamson answered coyly, "The story has to start somewhere."
