as a friday the 13th fan i am very disappointed of this, i reallu hoped that they will bring a decent storyline to the series, i think that since part 6 there wasnt anything good to watch, of course i have all the series as a fan but it doesnt change the fact that 5,7,8,9, just sucked... i kinda liked jason x , but anyway it seems like directors today are just too lazy to come up with anything new and good and thats the reason why they do so many remakes today..... halloween is going to have a freakin remake... horreeiii ... another stupid remake... and now this... jasons origins, who gives a crap how he was as a kid? we all know that he was pure child that everybody were pushing around and we all know how he became a killer, it will be the worst part since part 5

i really got sick and tired of all those remakes, are directors today too lazy to create a solid good story? hell i even prefere part 9 over some idiot origin story

Thats a cool discussion, who is the new director of the movie though?, i am a huge fan of friday the 13th series, and i have 3, 5, 6, 7, and have seen 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, X and Freddy vs Jason, what happened to discussion of Michael Myers being in a new movie with Jason, also i would watch a new movie with jason no matter what happens in it

In the case of Halloween, I think its going to be a huge let down because they went with Rob Zombie and the previews of this one make it look like a prequel to House of a Thousand Corpses moreso than anything more.

But with Hellraiser and Friday the 13th we may get something a bit better...hopefully.

So why go back to the start? Because a lot of the sequels were basically slapped together to make a buck without investing a buck to make it. They were low budget affairs and while some will view the first Hellraiser as untouchable, the recent sequels were so bad they are essentially unknown outside of Britain because nobody wanted to distribute them. The producers just slapped together a story and effects which is why each sequel tended to be out of sequence or the main characters looked so different. Its not that someones trying to destroy these great characters...its that someone else basically did that and now some people who really want to do the characters justice are coming together to attempt just that. Bringing Clive Barker back for the Hellraiser remake is a smart choice for that reason alone as Hellraiser is not really even worth speaking of in regard to sequels because of whats been done to it.

I think going back and redoing Jason Voorhees storyline is a great idea as it is being done to explore the character rather than just as another sequel. We may even find out who his father was which has been alluded to but not really dealt with as it is possible that he holds the real mystery.

I myself hate remakes but generally I hate the ones that are done without a real reason. Here the reason is simple enough, they intend to make more sequels and the previous ones got so bad they need a fresh starting point. I'm just grateful all the teeny bopper slasher flicks like Scream didn't kill off this genre of supernatural badguys altogether and its not like they plan to just remake the original Friday the 13th as they are quickly passing by mama Voorhees to an adult hockey mask wearing Jason.

And lets face facts...you can't tell one Friday the 13th movie from another as all its about is hack and slash...KILL'EM ALL...so who cares if it takes elements from the first nine movies to update things in this one...just give Jason a fucking machete and a hockey mask then let him do his thing!

For one the worst Jason movie was #5, but even it was goo....great.

Now on the topic of a Jason prequal, it should never happen...wait it already has, Parts 1 through 10.5. If they want to back-track, thats fine, I would personly like to see how they managed to get him in chains at the begining of 'X'. But, however, i would much rather watch a sequal that takes place on Earth 2.

When i first herd about it they were say it was going to be a remake, I thought "you can't fix what isn't broken", then they rumored Tarintino as director, and i was like maybe it wont be so bad.

And now there is a Halloween remake...Lord, i hope it's better than the original...I think Rob could pull it off.
