Black Sabbath and Black Sunday. Any good?

I recently bought both Black Sabbath and Black Sunday from director Mario Bava. They were completely blind buy blu ray pick ups.

So, before I sit down to watch them. I was wondering what everybody else thought.
Are they classics that are actually good and deserve to be called classics?
How well do the stand up to the test of time? Have they aged well?

I would recommend watching both of them! They are awesome classics. There is an Italian version of Black Sabbath aka Three Faces of Fear, it has a few different things.

I believe the blu ray that I picked up contains the Italian version too.
I'm looking forward to watching them now!

Liked both of them. Liked BLACK SABBATH better and "A Drop of Water" is scary as Hell. BLACK SUNDAY has a great opener, but felt the movie floundered a bit afterwards.

Finally got around to watching Black Sunday last night.

Pretty good movie. I like the story and I loved the gothic atmosphere.
Now I need to get around to watching Black Sabbath at some point!!

Two terrific movies, but if forced to choose a favorite I'm going with Black Sunday. It features one of my favorite Barbara Steele performances, maintains an atmosphere of dread and menace throughout, and boasts makeup and FX that are still highly impressive.

don't get these two mixed up

Don't confuse the horror movie Black Sunday with the one that has the terrorists.

I saw the remake that Bava did of his own movie, but the original Black Sunday is much more atmospheric.

Incidently, for Barbara Steele fans, she played Dr. Julia Hoffman in the new version of the Dark shadows series, from the 80s.

Barbara Steele had a small role in the movie Pretty Baby, as a prostitute. Now there's a brothel I would go to.
