First of all, you want to shoot it in front of the green screen, not behind. :)
its pretty straight forward as far as i know, just watch out for those green reflections on actors and props.

Green screens are used to produce a huge variety of effects, such as holes in the body, missing limbs, etcetera...But, as far as entire backgrounds go, I would imagine that would encompass things such as 'hell scenes' where the entire background is fire, or like bottomless pit suspensions or some underwater scenes, pretty much just anything that would be difficult to reproduce the old-fashioned way (example: fire is often green-screened, or CGI, because...well...It's freakin' HOT :p)...But, green-screening can also be used for common, animated background scenery if you prefer to shoot your film in a studio rather than on location...Green-screening to show movement/travel (driving in a car, riding a ferris wheel, flying in a plane, etcetera) is also pretty common

I hope I helped to answer your question :)

Are you asking what images or scenes you can use legally and for free or are you asking what images get the best results?

I'm confused by your very unclear post.

Do you mean material for a green screen - you can get special cloth and paint for it.

If are you mean why/when would I use a green screen in a horror film then you are asking you question backwards.

You shoot the film around the script not the green screen unless you are doing it just for a test.

It should be green, this colour makes for a good green screen.
What about a screen of green though, a little somethin' like this?

I'm not sure what you're really asking, but if you're looking for something green to use as your background I know someone who simply bought some lime green fabric at a WalMart and used that. It worked fine and it was only like $2 a yard for 45'' material lol.
