Ned Kelly (1970)

The story of the legendary Australian bushranger, interestingly played by Mick Jager. A pretty well worked telling of the tale this one. I think I prefer it to the more modern Heath Ledger film.

8/10

Surrogates

It's a good story but not a great movie.

5/10

At close range

I forgot I head seen this till I put it on. It's a good movie, but the music to the Madonna track playing throughout is a bit much and just makes the feel of it seem confused.

6.5/10

Decent movie, if you can look past the very shitty ending and some insipid performances.

Le Doulos (1962). Another wonderful gangster flick by Melville, this one may be the most covoluted of the bunch. Just when i resigned myself to be being completely lost, there was finally a little relief. The acting was solid, with a rather jazzy soudtrack to keep things going. The lack of the central character might disappoint some viewers, but this is one"s strength is hidden in the story, which centers on honor, the code, trust, and betrayal. The black and white cinematography was sweet, and the opening scene reminiscent of Melville's perfect beginnings. The ending was perfect for the era. Overall, this was a great viewing experience.

Feast II: Sloppy Seconds (2008). After enjoying the first one, my guess was that the second would be horrible. i was pleasantly surprised by this blood dripping follow-up. It was an absolutely blast of a joy ride. With bodily fluids flying in every direction only to be blended by a vomit fest here and there, there was nothing sacred in this funky little follow up. Not for everyone for sure, definitely a must see for those in it for pure fun. The couple times that it did slow down it was so that the art director could flex his muscles. The acting was just ok, but how could it be otherwise when the monsters are driven by a dichotomy of bloodlust and extreme sexual licentiousness. If one were to look for something that was taken seriously, the art direction here was pretty wonderful. Fun stuff. Ashe.

LOL - And that's all there is to say about it. At least I didn't turn it off, so it has to be something...

...

Le pacte des loups (Brotherhood of the Wolf)

Merits: Beautiful period piece. Loved the costumes and the characters.

De-Merits: The movie is more of a mystery-thriller than a horror film. Really awful, ridiculous ending. Kinda ruined the experience for me.

Not really sure how it got the praise it got in reviews.

2.5/5.
