Want to Win 50 Horror Movies?

You can win 50 Horror movies classics:

All you have to do is leave a comment behind about your favorite horror movie. It is actually a tough question. I think my favorite may be "The Shining" -- for overall terror and direction. But for impact it may have to be the first "Halloween," which I saw when I was 13 years old (and have never been the same since). "Jaws" is another movie that has had a lasting fear impact -- whenever I swim in water over my head (even fresh water). Then there is "Dog Soldiers" which I think is the best werewolf movie ever.

See -- it's a tough question to answer.

So, you want us to fill your site with content, in order to get a set of public domain films, that can be purchased in most bargain bins for $1.99?

Actually, he wants us to fill his site with content to get a set of public domain films that retails for 19.99 at any Best Buy or Circuit City. It's a pretty good set, though. Those of us who don't have it would do well to own it.

At the fleas here in Florida, I can usually pick those compilations up dirt cheap(pre-owned). Fortunately, the lack of general public interest in good old films keeps the market down. Even the film in my sig can be purchased new, for as little as $2.99, and that's a 2 disc set full of great docs.

Not quite. It retails for about 20 bucks. It's a contest -- why be so cynical?

Because this is a horror film site. Cynical is what we do here.

And you posted this in the wrong category.

Yeah, I think I did actually.

You want cynical -- try watching "Funny Games" -- the most cynical movie of the the last few years.

Are you talking about the lukewarm American version or the brilliantly intense German version of Michael Haneke's film? The original I recommend. I haven't seen the US vers. on DVD yet. No rush.

The American version. Have not seen the German version. The English version -- with the usually very good Naomi Watts -- was simply an awkward, thoroughly puzzling experiment in gratuitous violence. Now I'm all for beheadings, limbs being torn off, and occasional forays into cannibalism as long as it connects in some way to the characters and the plot. "Funny Games" doesn't try for a plot -- and provides nothing in way of motivation for the characters -- who are all cliches.

Quite frankly, the most frightening part of the movie was Watts' terrible hygiene while cooking.
