It was a little weak but good. It's just getting the main characters together so I'm gonna return to see how this plays out.

Last night I continued to watch the Pre-Picard "key episode" list I've been working through as recommended by one particular site.

To be honest I'm finding a few of the suggested episodes a little superfluous...like all the Romulan-centric episodes. I get there's Romulans in the new series and it seems like they may have a major role, but still...some dry episodes there, outside of maybe one "The Defector".
The Borg episodes are involving the "Hugh" character, the damaged borg they found, that gained back his individuality before deciding to re-join the collective to carry out a Starfleet plan...because apparently he returns in the new series.

Anyways. It's a nice relaxing re-watch in any event.

Last night I put on an episode that wasn't on the list on netflix, because I thought it sounded interesting and my memory of the latter part of TNG is well, almost non existent aside from the finale.

Will Riker is basically studying for a part in a play that he gets talked into...about a man falsely accused for a crime he can't remember, and considered crazy.
Then...through a plot device I won't go into...it becomes real.
The enterprise isn't real.
Starfleet career isn't real.
He's killed someone he can't remember and in a psych ward.
Lots of twists, turns and headfucks.
It was actually a really good episode...and fun to see Riker in distress ha...

4 more TNG episodes to go, including the EXCELLENT double episode finale.

Then onto the Voyager list to see some more borg/7 of 9 stuff on the list I'm guessing. Might watch the finale too.

Then the TNG movies, even the horrible Nemesis.

The Defector, Frame of Mind and I, borg were pretty interesting.

Maybe because you mentioned the new Picard series, I had just watched a few TNG eps for fun. I watched Devils Due. Good ep. And some I didn't remember: "The Outrageous Okona", "Time Squared", "Contagion"... not that good.

You have a list/link of eps one should watch before Picard?

Ever see The Inner Light ep? That might be a similar concept to Picard.

What do you think are the best NG eps?

This is the one I've been going off.

Yep, that's one that was on the list.
Solid episode, but...I don't know, I feel like it could have theoretically done in one part, but I get the significance and importance of the Star Trek season finale/launch double episodes.
It was nice to see the crew under different circumstances, and the whole "mission" angle was pretty interesting. Both parts of the show, the Picard parts and the enterprise parts were actually pretty interesting.
Captain ?Jallico? was a bit of a fuckhead though eh.
Stewart put into this episode.

I'm not too familiar with that many by name...TNG was on when I was quite young and I've only watched through it once since...I preferred Voyager at the time I first got into Trek, and now, I find DS9 a superior show to both the other main 90's series.

Hm...I'll probably have to just refer to the ones on the list I liked.

The first episode, that was the one with the trial of humanity by Q, right?
It was weird. Funny. Interesting. It also showed a bit of a pest/villain, and how the "new crew" would react to a threat of this kind. It was a good intro to the characters and I think a very strong first episode...it kind of embodied what star trek and its characters were *still* about, for all it's changes.

Datalore and Brothers are a nice kind of double feature split up through the series. Sibling rivalry done different. Showcased Spiners range too.
Lore, for as little as he was in it, was one of my favourite characters...because not only is he not difficult to understand...he's just...funny. Angry. Made a good "bad guy" but was really just lashing out, in a completely psycho android way.

"Family" was a very good episode that went into Picards past, and connection to his brother...some of his motivations, and the hugely different paths they took. Don't know if you remember but it came not so long after the "Locutus of Borg" stuff...and while those would have surely been shocking events...this episode showed the repercussions of his actions while under the influence of the collective, and his mud fight and breaking down crying with his brother to this day is just...really well done...Stewart whipping his acting balls right out.

The 2-part finale, is in my mind one of the best series finale episodes, ever.
Clever episode.

Not sure what you mean. The Inner Light was just one episode S5E25. As you said, the season finale was two parts: "All Good Things Part 1 & 2". I'll have to watch that again. Netflix puts those together as one ep. I didn't watch it live on TV, not sure if that was one night.

Datalore is one of my favorite eps. Good pick. Actually, I really like most all the Data emphasized eps, like The Offspring (where he creates an android child), In Theory (Data's love affair try), Elementary, Dear Data (Moriarty program becomes alive), and Brothers was cool.

An of course, one the best TNG eps ever was The Measure of a Man, where there's a debate court case to decide if Data is really sentient or equipment.

I think these are the best eps:

The Measure of a Man S2E9
Clues S4E14
Datalore S1E9
Chain of Command Part 2 S6E11 (Cardassian tries to 'Nighteen Eighty Four' brainwash Picard)
Q Who S2E16 (first Borg ep)
11001001 S1E15 (aliens hijack Enterprise, & create life-like female hologram to distract Riker)
Conspiracy S1E25 (Aliens infiltrate Star Fleets top command)
The Best of Both Worlds Part 1 & 2 S2E26-S3E1
