I wasn't overly impressed with it. I don't tend to like the 'artsy' vampire film.

It's in the same realm as Martin and The Addiction so if you didnt like them you won't like this-try Cronos instead its by the same director who did Pan's Labyrinth and The Devil's Backbone.

I really enjoyed it, but I like Park Chan-Wook's films anyway. If you liked the revenge trilogy then you'll like this. It is slow moving, but it's very thought provoking - more of a study of faith and human nature than an out and out horror. The performances by both leads are fantastic.

I watched this last month. This was my take:

Kang-ho Song's performance was too understated to explore the premise and spiritual torture of a priest becoming a vampire, and there was some strange ghostly happenings towards the middle that didn't fit the film and simply went unexplained. This movie couldn't find it's feet. Very well made, however, with plenty of gruesomeness.
7/10

I absolutely loved this movie. A dark romantic comedy that touches on sexuality, faith, religion and love. It's beautiful and bloody. Terrific acting and great directing. It's a bit of an arty movie but not overly artistic to the point where it becomes pretentious.
In my opinion it's one of the best vampire movies in recent years.

It's from the same director as Sympathy for Mr Vengeance (brilliant underrated masterpiece)
Oldboy (A genuine masterpiece)
Lady Vengeance (Pretty good but tonally strange)
And his first english language movie Stoker (Forgotten gem of a movie)

So if you enjoyed any of thoser movies then you'll more than likely also enjoy Thirst!!
