When the actor agreed to do the part, he was not an amputee...

But, for the part... the actor was willing to cut off parts to make the part.

In the movie Poltergeist, the partents only simulated smoking pot during the pot scene.

It was real. He was an actual amputee. I learned that from watching the behind the scenes commentary on the DVD.

False! It was old fashion karos syrup and food coloring. Though Sissy Spacek volunteered to the use of real pigs blood.
