Chopped Up By Helicopter Blades...That's Gotta Suck
Worker Thrown Through Helicopter Windshield, Into Blades
Florida - A 34-year-old maintenance worker at Orlando Executive Airport was killed Friday after he was thrown through the windshield of a helicopter and into its blades. Witnesses said worker Kevin Connolly was performing a test on the helicopter at the airport at 3:30 p.m. Friday when the chopper began to shudder. Connolly was then thrown from the pilot's seat through the front windshield and struck by the rotating blades, according to the report. "That worker did die as a result, we believe, of some maintenance that may have been being done on a particular piece of aviation equipment," Orlando police Sgt. Barbara Jones said. The helicopter was not in the air at the time of the accident, Jones said. Records show the helicopter was registered to Air Orlando Helicopter Flight Training and Rental LLC. The helicopter on which Connolly was working was a slow speed aircraft mainly used for flight training. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
