Talking Master of the Scream Contest

Fans and producers of horror films from all over the world, be ready! Brazil will host the most hellish of all competitions ever.

The 4th Cinefantasy Festival evokes the gloomiest filmmakers to take part of its brand new project, The Master of the Scream Contest. A contest where scaring is the key target.

If you were asked what film scared the hell out of you the most, and still makes you shiver in dark moments, what would you say? At given times all of us already experienced sudden and exciting moments when our boost for life keeps us in tight alert. This boost grows stronger and stronger until bursting into a physical reaction, a scream, a startle, staring eyes or some tears.

Those victimized by great old horror films, might have already taken sometime to analyze a good scary sequence: Its structure, rhythm, sound design, details, and the “grand finale”.

Now here comes the question: Can you create a memorable scary sequence?

And that is the new challenge we present in the 4th Cinefantasy Festival.

The master of the scream contest will happen in a single screening session and will be hosted by a special guest who will present the selected short films in a very appropriated gloomy style. At the end of the session, the audience will choose the winner, who – whether in the place or not – will be given a statuette right there. YES, even if the winner of the 1st Master of the Scream Contest is absent, he will be called on stage to get his statuette... After all, we manage a Fantasy Film Festival!

To qualify for the 1st Master of the Scream Contest the short film must be very scary and no more than 5 minutes long.

The Master of the Scream Contest will be part of the 4th Cinefantasy programme, that will occur in November in São Paulo, with free admission.
