Can you help with ideas?
I am working on the early stages of an essay about Horror films that attempt to deconstruct the horror genre. I have ideas about Wes Craven's New Nightmare, Scream, Behind the Mask and Tucker and Dale Vs Evil as well as some things to say about the Evil Dead Series and Cabin in the Woods. I need to know what other films deserve discussion in this essay. I am asking for your help on this so if you can think of films that deconstruct the genre please name them so I can watch and study to better understand.
Thanks |

I am not saying all of these films are brilliant, but are some other possiblilties would be Bride of Chucky, Waxwork I, Waxwork II, Hatchet, Young Frankenstein, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Dracula: Dead and Loving it, The Howling, Killer Klowns from Outer Space (50s Sci Fi technically). These were just some ideas that I had, if they aren't what you are looking for, then I apologize

Oh those are great suggestions! Thank you. Young Frankenstein, Rocky Horror and the latter Chucky movies should have been easy catches and I feel dumb for not thinking of them. The Howling and Killer Klowns are great additions. Dracula dead and loving it leads me to Mel Brooks' High anxiety (and his parodies of vertigo, The Birds, and Antonioni's films) which is helpful to my plan.
Thank you! |
