Rambo (2008)
Second viewing of my second favorite part in the series.
This movie has some of the best violence/action I've ever seen.
If only The Expendables movies were more like this...

Yes, indeedie.

Although there wasn't really much of anything to be afraid of, I for some reason was just glued to the set. It's spoiled from the very beginning that they won't make it out of the woods alive, but when weird things start to happen you keep watching just to know why and what the hell is doing it. The ending was vague enough to make you think they may have just gone mad, but when I thought back to the stories the townspeople told, I was just 'woah shit I get it'.

We've had the VHS since it was released, but it was only watched once by my dad who hated it. Kept hearing how stupid it was from him, and I knew it would be an home video documentary style (which I didn't really care for in a movie even before I got more into horror) so I never thought much about watching it. But after watching so many on Netflix and thinking maybe they weren't so bad after all, I decided to dig it out when our net was down and give it a try. I liked it more than I thought I would.

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
Liked it as much as the first one. The effects and the destruction were quite amazing.
And overal I thought it was very entertaining.

I hope one day they make a solid horror movie with special effects as good as those. And with an ending as strong as Seven or The Mist.
That would be a dream coming true.

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015)

Though loved the very first one but never been really a great fan of this franchise. Particularly for the 2nd & 3rd installment, I have been quite tired of watching Ethan Hunt jumping off from a building or whatever in each & every mission & pulling off a Face-Mask at some point in the movie...the typical trademarks for MI films. The good thing is this time they kind of changed & improvised that jump stunt although couldn't get entirely rid off the face-mask thing. Still it felt good for a little change & emphasizing more on the story by keeping it a fast paced, action packed thrill ride from start to finish in a simple plotted espionage tale. But the best thing about ROGUE NATION is the addition of Rebecca Ferguson as the undercover British agent Ilsa Faust. She shines in almost every frame & at times even overshadows Cruise on the screen.

Unconscious aka Amnesiac (2015)

One of the dullest thrillers ever made!

Heard about this one. I think on the WTF podcast. Where did you find it to view?

Its available on vudu as a preorder. 22.99 to buy it I assume. No details for renting. Alas.

Entourage (2015)
If you like the series, this movie is quite good.
Did expect it to be funnier though.

12 Years A Slave 2015

My initial reactions were that the slave owner and slave dynamic was too easy, that nothing is that simple. But then I'm thinking, no it really was that fucked up. So it is that easy, that simple to write/direct the dynamic.
The main actor, forgetting his name, was really really good. So was Benedict Cumberbatch(surprised I remember his name) and the second slave owner the main character was transferred to. The actor playing Patsy was meh, except when her character was being whipped and then raped. She was excellent. The same sort of bad acting occurred with the actress who played the second slave owner's wife. Both of these actors at times were stiff, like they were giving soliloquies in a theater and not in a movie with people around them.
And then there's Brad Pitt's character. OF COURSE Brad Pitt plays a character like that, and badly. Not to imply he is or not is a bad actor.

I did not know it was originally a book, wish I had. I would've read it first.

Any of you guys find it odd to post about movies that you watch that aren't horror movies? This is a horror forum.

The title of the thread is "Last Seen Contemporary Movie". Doesn't say anything about it having to be a horror movie.
