IMO, I think the sparing use of zombies makes it more "realistic." In this situation what you're trying to do is AVOID zombies, so it's more realistic if they only show up occasionally.
I thought the "herd" scene was fantastic!

They're actually not in the comics... And to be honest, those stereotype two-dimensional characters bothered me.

I think the show is just ok - I'm not a fan of the actor playing Rick and the kid playing his son is just awful. The wife is unlikeable as are most of the characters to me.

Maybe it 's just because I read the comics, but I feel myself more sitting and waiting for plot points that may or may not surface instead of enjoying the show.

Also - The drama drives me CRAZY - Hated it in the comic too - Probably because I find most of the characters to be whiney and annoying... At least the comics didn't start off with this much drama - They started with a bang actually and I wish there was more action in the show.

I don't get the "not enough action" complaints. The show has had a pretty good balance of both drama and action. The last episode had heaps of action IMO.

Don't I know it :(

But seriously it's no different than the original Romero trilogy and I don't hear people complaining about those films not having enough action.

I didn't mind the Dawn of the Dead remake when it came out but these days I find it way to dumbed down (thematically it's quite insulting) and flashy (to the extent the violence has no impact because it's happening all the time).

LOL

No, I don't think that's it - I honestly just don't like most of the characters. Could be that I'm cheering for them to be slaughtered. ;)

Hey now - You know I like a good character piece... I just don't think that The Walking Dead is a good character piece - The writing is banal and two-dimensional at times... I had the same problem with the comic.

I'm enjoying the series thus far. Sure there are a few tweaks I would do.....like Chrono said, the characters aren't very likable but I'm sure that just to keep the story from going to point A to point B. Much like the stupid decisions of the characters.......I mean c'mon....I live in the smallest state in the U.S. and I can think of at least 2 RV dealers. GET A NEW FUCKING CAMPER.....and while you're at it....maybe a pickup truck to haul all that water ...or hell...just take the water truck.

Glad that our local Star Movies already started the 2nd season very early than our expectation. Already seen the 1st episode where the kid got shot at the end. :)
