NBC wins spooky new cop show

NBC Wins Rights to Spooky Cop Pilot
Source: Variety
August 5, 2007

NBC has won the rights to a supernatural-tinged hour from writer John Stephens ("The O.C.") following intense interest from multiple networks. Warner Bros. TV will produce under Stephens' two-script deal at the studio.

The potential series is a police procedural with a hilariously horrifying twist that follows a team of regular cops dedicated to busting vampires, zombies and other criminal demons.

Stephens was most recently co-exec producer of "The O.C.," primarily serving as a writer for the show but also directing an episode of the series' final season. His first big TV gig was on the Warner-produced "Gilmore Girls," on which he worked from 2000-2004, leaving the series as co-producer.
