Thumbs up Greetings From Canada

Greetings & Salutations,

For the longest time I have been confining myself to non-fiction but recently have gone back to my love of horror novels. I have discovered a whole new world in the leisure books series and for the most part love the bulk of the authors there. My favorite authors are:

Edward Lee
Brian Keene
Simon Clark
Tom Piccirrili
Jack Ketchum

It took me awhile to adapt to Edward Lee's writing style as it tends to be over-the-top and my first introduction to him was "Brides of the Impaler" which was not so good. Determined to give him a second shot I read "The Messengers" which is a tad better but still not enough to engender myself as a loyal reader. It was not until I happened across Flesh Gothic that I began to enjoy his writings even though it was intensely graphic and somewhat demented on many levels; I had to put the novel down 3-4 times but then midway it took on a new life and the story line draw me in completely. Recently I finished his book "The Black Train" which was not as over-the-top as the previous titles mentioned but to date probably the most enjoyable read and I highly recommend it. I am looking forward to beginning his City Infernal trilogy which seems to have received rave reviews.

Brian Keene was a-lot more accessible for me and really enjoyed "The Conqueror Worms" which was somewhat of a new-school post-apocalyptic Lovecraft novel. I picked up Dark Hollow and Ghost walk today so hopefully I will have a review of those soon.

Overall I enjoy the authors released on the Leisure Books label the most so if anyone has any recommendations please feel free to let me know as I am always on the lookout for a good read.

Cheers!
