Deep Impact

Or how a bit of cornball action can be entertaining from time to time.

Cheesy? Sure. But at least it wasn't as horrendous as Armageddon.

One thing, though. The guy who played Elijah Wood's mentor at the start. I'm pretty sure I recognise him from somewhere but I cannot put my finger on what.

Whats the name of the mentor in the film, or the actors name?

I believe the character's name was dr. Marcus Wolf.

He dies in a car accident after crashing into a truck.

The astronomer in the observatory eating pizza, on the computer is Dr Marcus Wolf, played by Charles Martin Smith, who's been a ton of stuff. You might remember him as the main buddy in big glasses in American Graffiti. And the bass player Ray Bob in The Buddy Holly Story starring Gary Busey.

If you're talking about the darked haired teacher in the first scene asking Wood questions about the stars... i'm not sure.

They Shall Not Grow Old

Peter Jackson's documentary about World War I ......man talk about horror. Starts off like most photos and video you may have seen from that era but at the maybe ten minute mark this OPENS up like seeing OZ for the first time in color. PJ did a beautiful job restoring pictures and video from WW1. And it actually makes a cohesive story...not just random pictures and video.

That's him. Thanks.

So if he's been in a ton of stuff, I would imagine he died in a few of his roles too.

I'm looking forward to seeing it. The trailer is impressive. Does it give the history of WWI, or what's the main focus of the documentary?
