Bathory or not so much

I've read two books by researches who very much confirmed that bathory killed lots of virgins and bathed in their blood. However I read an article today that gives a much more plausible story. However it does not cite sources. Thoughts?

This story has always intrigued me. I've read that she bathed in the blood of virgins because she believed it would keep her youthful. Can you imagine bathing in blood??? *shivers*

Works fine with Firefox at my house. Not much to it. Sources would indeed be nice.

I think that the stories about her were fake and created by greedy relatives who wanted to take away her lands and her rightful title as Countess. They simply took advantage of the fact that she was a woman living in a time when people hated the idea of women being in a position of power and anyone could easily be accused of being some kind of witch or monster.

Now that said I think that the idea of what she was accused of makes for a fascinating horror story. The tale of a woman so cruel and vain that she would bathe in the blood of young virgins to preserve her eternal life and beauty. It sounds like the kind of stuff a dark witch or vampire would do lol.

But I still think that the accusations against her were completely false and that people will believe anything.

I'm using chrome and the link doesn't seem to be working for me.

True or not, I'd love to finally see a good movie about her, maybe in the style of the prologue from Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), which is still my favorite part of that movie.

I know she appeared as a witch in that show Salem on Netflix. I haven't watched many episodes of it but the few parts I saw of her were pretty cool. And yep you guessed it, she was killing young girls and bathing in their blood so that she could live forever.

She also claimed that she was Hecate, the Greek Goddess of witchcraft, among other things.
