oh its far from dead...its just more comon is all...just look at twilight ophera, old mans child, the old dead tree and so on...exelent performers in the black metal genre.

well...hers a definition...black metal can be divided into two diffrent catagorys, the grimmer tradisional style and the more atmospheric symphonic style...
often with satanic lyrics, verry little singing involved here but it occurs... death metal is the most extreme form... usualy fast paced (more so then blackmetal) with extreme use of blastbeats, most of the time the guitars are kind of downtuned... as for gothic metal...what the fuck? how can you hate it? look at sirenia, old after forever theatre of tragedy...and so on... all inspired by the greatest metal band in the history of metal...paradise lost, named after theyr second or third album...i dont realy remember... no genre of metal uses more female vocals then gothic metal/rock, the music is all about sadness basicly, who cant relate to that? altso the genre that makes the most use of orchestra and the like...

Ahh, ok. So black metal is the slower, darker, more satanic version of death metal. Gotcha.
I definitely prefer Death Metal then. Oh, BTW, Gothic Metal is fucking GREAT. I love After Forever. I'll have to check out those other bands you listed. It's really hard to find good gothic metal.
