FEST - Training Ground 2015

This year at FEST – Training Ground: PETER DOYLE, Digital Colourist of Lord of the Rings Trilogy and the last six Harry Potter films; BARNEY PILLING, Editor of An Education and Grand Budapest Hotel STEVEN NOBLE, costume designer of Theory of Everything, Never Let me Go and Under the Skin; EDDY JOSEPH, Sound Designer of Pink Floyd’s The Wall, Batman, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and 007 – Casino Royale; and many more!

FEST – Training Ground is the educational section of FEST New directors | New Films Festival in Espinho, Portugal, and it will occur parallel to the festival itself, between the 23rd and the 28th of June. FEST – Training Ground consists of a series of workshops and masterclasses presented by some of the film industry`s biggest names in several technical and artistic fields. FEST – New directors | New Films Festival ( http://fest.pt/2015/training-ground-2/?lang=en ) is more than the usual film festival; besides its numerous competitive and non-competitive sections, it also features FEST - Training Ground, which covers a large amount of subjects related to filmmaking, making it one of the largest and most complete film forums in existence, attracting more than 400 filmmakers from around the world per year. This year, Training Ground will feature several masterclasses, lectures and workshops from an impressive list of prominent speakers, such as: Steven Noble, costume designer on films such as 24 Hour Party People, Never Let Me Go; Under the Skin, and more recently, James Marsh's The Theory of Everything; Peter Doyle, one of film industry’s most distinguished supervising digital colourists, having handled digital colour grading on the The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the last six Harry Potter films; Barney Pilling, editor of An Education, Never Let me Go and Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel, for which he was nominated for the Academy Award and the BAFTAs; Eddy Joseph, the sound design master and sound supervisor whose film credits include Pink Floyd The Wall, Batman, Interview with a Vampire, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Corpse Bride, 007 - Casino Royale and others; Scandar Copti, Palestinian director nominated for an Academy Award and the Camera D’Or at Cannes for his first feature Ajami, whose directing and acting workshops are unmissable for every actor, director or for anyone curious about the art of acting; and many other speakers and experts at FEST – Training Ground. The event will take place between the 23rd and 28th of June 2015 in Espinho, a tourism orientated city and one of the summer hotspots of Portugal, 15 minutes south of Porto in the seacoast line. All activities will be in Centro Multimeios de Espinho, a modern infrastructural and high quality building with screen IMAX, planetarium, café, computer room and wireless Internet. As for the participation fee, the event pack costs only 69€, giving a pass granting access to all the activities and sessions in FEST – Training Ground and FEST – New Directors | New Films Festival, during the whole 6 days of the event. Training Ground brings together young creators from all over the world and offers a unique opportunity for direct contact with some of the biggest film professionals in the industry.
