The First Cut is the Deepest was indeed written by Cat Stevens. It was a hit for PP Arnold in Britain in 1967, reaching #18 in the charts. Stevens never released his original version as a single, as he felt PP Arnold's rendition was a definitive version.

that also did a cover .. an anoying one .. ?

did Rod Stewart cover it too .. or am i getting confused because she sounded like him . ?
