I thought the most douchebaggy title to this thread would fit with my introduction since I've already gotten off on not great footing here by making first posts elsewhere. Never the less, I'd like to talk horror with people and this website still seems like a good way to go on that front.

I want to build street-cred despite my rocky beginning, and I'm sure I'll fail at doing that, so I've come up with my own version of 14 sub-genres of horror that I want to show off. I'm still working on fine tuning them, but I thought it might be fun to feature my top 2 from each of my categories in a futile and juvenile attempt to prove myself to the masses.

Haunted House Movies
Poltergeist (1982)
The Uninvited (1944)

Werewolf Movies
An American Werewolf in London (1981)
The Wolf Man (1941)

Vampire Movies
Nosferatu (1922)
Dracula (1931)

Alien Abduction Movies
The UFO Incident (1975)
Intruders (1992)

Creature Feature Movies
Alien (1979)
Frankenstein (1931)

Posession Movies
The Shining (1980)
Paranormal Activity (2007)

Ghost Movies
Jacob's Ladder (1990)
The Fog (1980)

Slasher Movies
Psycho (1960)
Halloween (1978)

Zombie Movies
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
Rec (2007)

Anthology Movies (the only two I've knowingly seen)
Three...Extremes (2006)
Dead of Night (1945)

Creepy Kids Movies
The Omen (1976)
Village of the Damned (1960)

Mad Scientist Movies
Frankenstein (1931) [already mentioned]
The Fly (1986)
Eyes Without a Face (1960)

Horror Comedy Movies
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (1951) [the Disney short film, I love this flick]
Shaun of the Dead (2004)

Torture-Porn Movies
Audition (1999)
Saw Franchise (2004-2010)

I still have to figure out how to get a couple other movies into these lists and how to change some of the categories, but this is where I am now on it.

Im unsure about your torture-porn movies, I can find strange things interesting but I have to admit its a stretch of the imagination to get off to Saw ... Apart from that, there are some really nice films on your list - welcome to the forum ;)

Welcome :) You should check out some 70s exploitation films-I recommend Salo it turns the whole torture porn thing on its head-a very clever film.

Oh ya, I'll add that to my list. I like movies that switch things up on sub-genres, kind of wakes everyone up.

Be aware its not an easy film to watch but if you persevere its rewarding.
