SE7EN (1995)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Many years since I've tuned in and while some of the luster is gone with repeated viewings, I still find this incredibly creepy with one of the most downbeat wrap-ups ever. I also think Morgan Freeman is superb as the meticulous yet burnt out detective and while Brad Pitt gets top billing, I found his character incredibly obnoxious, although You feel such pity for him towards the end. Watching yesterday, it just seemed to Me that He was not the right kind of person to be a detective; too impetuous, too hotheaded, too hung-ho and took comments as slights, instead of trying to learn from them. You can appreciate his wanting to do the right thing, but more training would have been better. Also, the HUGE mistake He makes in underestimating John Doe; even when in custody, Doe still has the upper hand. Very much worth a watch. ****

GACY:THE SERIAL KILLER NEXT DOOR (2024). While Mike Korich looks a lot like the infamous murderer, the script, for some reason has him laughing out loud at just about every comment He makes, reminding Me of Cesar Romero's Joker from the TV series BATMAN. GTSKND also plays fast and loose with the facts, which I find insulting to his many victims , especially it's a teenager who finds out his secret, but the parents tend to veer towards belief then disbelief and they are incredibly dense. A stupid wrap-up and just a general waste of time. *

Late Night with The Devil: 2023

A lot of gave it a low rating but I personally loved it because it took place in a different setting. Most possession horror movies take place at home, I loved that this took place on live TV and everyone thought that it was fake. The build up was also something I enjoyed too. I give this 7/10

WACKEN (2014). Interesting look at the huge Heavy Metal festival held in Germany is put together and seems very organized; especially after watching the disaster that was Woodstock 99. A lot of veteran bands are featured like Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Saxon (with Doro Pesch) and Rammstein. Also some up and comers, competing in a "Best Band" contest from around the world, as well as interviews with fans. And while there is drinking and some mild carousing, things appear to be a lot more temperate.
While I liked most of it, there is way too much footage of attendees whooping, grimacing and flashing the "Horns". Also, the band that wins the "Best Band" contest has NO footage at all , although the competition does. I would have liked to have had a little backstory of how the festival came to be and the steps taken in it running smoothly. **1/2

BODY BAGS (1993). Anthology film presented by John Carpenter as a "Crypt-Keeper" type host introducing/afterwards stories with corny jokes/puns. Carpenter also directs two of the stories while Tobe Hooper handles the last one. The stories themselves aren't bad and tend to drag but salvaged by a lot of cool guest stars. If You like TALES FROM THE CRYPT, then BODY BAGS is worth Your time. ***

THE LIFE OF DEATH (2015). Various celebrities who deal in horror (Caroline Munro, Debbie Rochon Lloyd Kauffman, Jack Ketchum,Tom Sullivan, Bob Fingerman) talk about what death means to them, what they think it involves and ways they would like to depart the mortal coil. Not a bad idea per se, the subject is too slight for a 90 minute plus film; a short subject might have been better. **

The Watchers (2024)

There were things I liked in this movie, aswell as things I disliked...some of the growling and chittering of the monsters was overdone and a litle annoying, I rolled my eyes a couple of times at some of the things the characters would say...like damn you guys really are not phased by whats happened to you? There was a robotic aura to some of those characters. I did enjoy the lead role character of Mina, and supporting role of Madeline. I also enjoyed some of the twists, but there was some all too corny things in it aswell. I guess give it a watch and decide for yourself.

HERCULES (2014). While this takes its CGI-laden time getting started, it picks up and becomes a decent enough watch. Dwanye "The Rock" Johnson is a convincing enough Hercules, although I don't recall him having so many helpers in the stories, especially the annoying nephew. I can see a lot of LORD OF THE RINGS/GAME OF THRONES influences in some of the battle scenes as well. Also worth seeing as it has John Hurt (in probably one of his last films) ; He is awesome, even if his character is despicable. ***
