Joker {2019}

An original standalone origin story of the iconic villain not seen before on the big screen, it's a gritty character study of Arthur Fleck, a man disregarded by society, and a broader cautionary tale.

Director: Todd Phillips

I am curious about one thing. When you go down the list (Nicholson, Ledger, Phoenix)...

Obviously, there is the talent already present. Then again, it's not as if other, similar villains (in the superhero universe) present such opportunities to excel and receive this kind of acclaim. I have yet to see an Oscar-worthy portrayal of The Penguin, The Riddler, Lex Luther,...

So what is it about the character of the Joker that inspires these top notch performers to bring out their A(+) game?

No. But then I barely go to the theater anymore.

I realized why I enjoy movies at home more than in the theater. I only remember a few really good theater experiences. And so many factors contributed to those good experiences. Besides those theaters don't exist anymore. After October I'll go over this old site I found that has images of closed theaters.
